ABOUT ME
I coach and support actors.
I trained and worked as an actor - three years at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and ten years in the industry. I am passionate about the craft and the art of acting. I don't favour any one method or approach. I use my experience and expertise to respond to the need of the actor, and the need in the moment. It's all about helping an actor to unlock their best work.
I am happy working with neurotypical, neurodivergent and learning disabled actors. I have personal family experience of neurodivergence which has given me insight and understanding, and continually informs my approach. By seeing the person in the actor I am able to find the right level of support within our work together, and to offer appropriate support in the rehearsal room, in performance, and on set.
As well as my personal experience and intuitive approach, I also have a skills-set born out of working in the corporate sector. As a business actor, trainer and coach I specialised in personal development and communication and I am a certified, professional behavioural analyst (CPBA). This experience and learning has given me a deep understanding of behaviours and communication styles. I've taken these skills and adapted them for actors creating a simple, robust and hugely effective acting tool to enhance self-awareness and help unlock character development.
In 2017, I did an MA in actor training and coaching at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, bringing together my work and life experience. It was a great chance to explore and deepen my skills in approaches to acting, teaching and coaching, and it gave me the opportunity to begin my journey in specialist coaching for neurodivergent actors.
My ultimate goal on any project, with any actor, is great performances all round. Particularly for a neurodivergent or learning disabled actor, and the cast and crew they are working with, I am on hand as much, or as little as is required to help communication flow and creativity flourish.
My work is defined by immense patience, a warm and positive energy, creative solutions and a deeply unique set of skills and experience.
